Subject:Still here...
Security:Public

Still posting entries here until I get my new blog set up just right. :)

These are definitly on my to-do list!

Geourl.org - Find your closest blogging neighbor. Read about it here. Um, I'm still on the fence about this one...it seems a bit scary that someone could know EXACTLY where you live from your blog.

Also from weblogcentral, this looks interesting but I didn't figure out the point of it in 10 seconds (short attention span) so I'll have to come back to it later.

Tuesday I have to do a "Coffee Talk" on blogs for the work folks, so hopefully I can have my MT blog lookin' spiffy by then. I'm not really sure about sharing my blog URL with work folks. I'm not sure that they need to know how weird I really am. *ponders it* I'll let you know what I decide. When I originally registered blueskyday.com, I had considered making it an anonymous blog and not telling ANYONE about it, but in the end, the need to be my true self all the time won over leading duel lives.

Hoo-HOO-hoo!

It's a work in progress, but it works! I have much to learn about Movable Type. The next step is to design a skin or two.

But for now, I sleep.

This week has flown by. I'm trying to help get a new site out by Monday and have worked 10 hours days just about every day this week. I'm tired!

So how about that blizzard? Shouldn't we have at least 6 inches on the ground before they decide to close schools? Come on, people, get real!

Reading: The Power of Now - good book so far, though I hate to see them milking it with cards. What's next, T-shirts?

Have you bought a music CD since 1995? Who hasn't? Well, apparently we were overcharged for those CD's and the recording industry is paying us back. Read the article here, then go claim your $20! Be patient, their servers are experiencing a bit of overload.

Ok, maybe I was a wee bit cranky last night. I apoligize for my potty mouth. But I was right about the FTP/SSH thing, and I won't bore you (again) the the details, but it's working now and I didn't change the way I was doing anything. So there, ha!

*beep beep* There goes my new Blackberry. It's a handy-dandy little thing for sure. Of course, work bought it for me so I can check my e-mail 24/7 and sadly, I do.

It looks like we'll soon be tasting Seth's own version of Miller Time. Yay!

More later on the gypsy lifestyle and settling down. ;)

Oh, the joys of web site ownership. I am slowly sliding into geeky oblivion (or is that Bolivian?). I just spent the last hour trying to install MT on my new site, and I only got as far as uploading the zip file to the server. I just spent an hour trying to telnet or SSH into my server and all I get is error message after error message.

So I gave up and posted a message on the host's help board. Normally I would have said "fuck it", but I feel the the host must be doing something wrong and I am determined to prove that I was doing it right. And yes, I spend most of my workday around men and yes, I think the "I'm not wrong, dammit" attitude may be wearing off on me, don't you think?

At least my new e-mail works, yay! As if I didn't already have enough e-mail addresses, you can reach me at jen @ blueskyday dot com (I wrote it funny because legend says that some phantom bot might spam me if I write it the legible way.)

Cheerio. Tallyho. Way to grow. Suck my toe. Coding blows.

I finally mustered up the nerve to sign up for my new hosting service and register my free domain name. I've been agonizing over what domain name to register, and most of the good ones are taken, of course. So what did I come up with? www.blueskyday.com (may not be active for the next 48 hours).

Why blueskyday.com? Simple...it was nice outside today and it made me happy. The past, present, and future all seem to converge and surround me in happiness, melancholy, and poignant awareness on blue-sky days.

What a Saturday! This afternoon, my Dad took us (me, Matt, Mom, and Patrick) on a 4-wheeling Jeep adventure up Fort Mountiain to see *snow*! The we ate Southern Style at Edna'a Restaurant in Chatsworth. No other meat 'n 3 veggies truckstop can compair to Edna's unassuming roadside diner. We cityfolk with our fancy sunglasses and leather coats certainly were a spectacle amongst the overall-wearing AARP crowd, but we didn't let the sideways glances hinder our enjoyment of Edna's award winning peanut butter pie!

I was looking forward to such a lovely weekend of relaxation, and THEN...I got a call from work. Neville, who was doing our weekend covereage, is in the hospital with possible appendicitis! So right now I'm sitting in the office, 10:20, on a Saturday night and I'll have to work most of the day tomorrow. :( That's ok...I'm glad I can be here to help Neville out! I would certainly hope that someone would be there to back me up if the same happend to me. And in the grand scheme of things, I'm really lucky to have this job in the first place.

But damn, I really needed some rest! I've worked the past 2 weekends! Now don't get all excited...I get Thursday and Friday off when I work weekends (well, except this one!) Our little news team has to have someone working every weekend. The news doesn't stop happening on Friday, you know!

C'est la vie. I'm glad I got out and about when I could!

Don't "misunderestimate" Dubya. Bushisms are beginning to "resignate" with the American people. Maybe they'll even "embetter" the English language.

I finally found an available 1000 Journals Project journal! I'm signed up for #970. Do you have any idea how hard it is to get one of these? I am SO lucky!

If anyone wants to include something in the journal, let me know. :) I can pass it around Atlanta before sending it on. Yay!

Yay, I was able to log into LiveJournal for the first time today! *sigh* *dreams about paycheck and new blog* ... *new haircut wouldn't be bad, either*

I sent the link to my site to my lovely Scottish friend Izzy. (Hi Izzy if you're reading this! We need to go out for drinks soon, dear!)

I haven't decided how I feel about people I know it real life reading this. Honestly, I don't know of anyone I DON'T know in real life who's reading this. If someone is...say hi! :) I haven't gone as far as giving the link to my parents, but who knows, they may have already found it. I don't say anything hateful or catty. You'll never see me say "Oh, so-and-so was such a bitch today!" because I'm just not that kind of person...and because I took the pledge. But I still wonder sometimes if I'm tempering my words. I really don't want to come off like some sort of nutty person. My sweetheart is a bit scared of this blogging thing and seems to think it's pretty weird.

But then again, I'm pretty weird. Perhaps I should embrace my loopiness and be as different as I wanna be. So screw it, I'm going to write whatever I please from now on. :P

*trys to think of something to say with newfound verbal liberation*

um...hm. yeah.

Look at me, I'm a fluffy pink cloud!

I just re-pointed Jen.nu to my livejournal for now. Hang in there, I'll have my Moveable Type blog going soon! Just a few more weeks and I'll actually have the money to get my new hosting space!

I am so, so blessed to have the job I have right now. I love my job! My favorite site to update is KABC - LA.

I have to work this weekend, so I had Thurs. and Fri. off to chill and do whatever. I cleaned house and watched Oprah, HGTV, and TLC. I also got in plenty of web surfing and napping. It was good.

Jen's news picks of the day:
Governor clears Illinois death row
Thousands March Though Downtown LA in War Protest
IRAQ: ANOTHER FAKE LIBERATION
Young Kids May Miss Joke in Sarcastic Jibe

Stupid Fun:
Ink Blot Test - credit to Robyn for finding it.
Make tunes, annoy your cube mate - Infinite Wheel. My fave is #8.
Fark - interesting news picks.

Window Shopping:
Check out the rad barware at Uncommon Goods
Who wouldn't want a few of these hanging around?
Not your grandmother's embroidery - Sublime Stitching

Artsy Zines: Found these on the shelves of some of my favorite local stamp stores, Stamp Art Jubilee and Angel Art Rubber Stamps (highly recommended!). There's also a cool stamp store in Marietta Square, but they don't seem to have a web site.
ARTitude - all kinds of crazy art stuff, very chick oriented
PLAY - dedicated to art journals
dog eared magazine - a journal of book arts

Good Causes:
Heifer International - saw this featured on Oprah. The simple gift of an animal can make an amazing difference to someone in a 3rd world country. Definitely on my list of charitable giving this year.
Words Can Heal - sponsored by Goldie Hawn. I took the pledge...will you?

Senseless Quiz of the Day:

Funshine Bear
You are filled with unlimited energy and extremely resourceful. You like to tackle problems and tasks head-on and you gladly accept any jobs that come along the way. However, you often take on too much and your stubbornness won't allow you to accept help from others. But you're always willing to have a good time!

That's all for now. Good night!

What's happinin'! I haven't written here in a while, I know. For shame! For shame! I've been dreaming about a new blog and have ignored my current one in the process. I am inpired by the many components of this blog - Ain't Too Proud to Blog.

I've also been working a LOT lately, which is a good thing (money, yay!), but it doesn't leave energy for much else. I had to work this past weekend and I have to work on Christmas and New Years. Sucky, I know, but at least I get to work from home and I get paid extra.

Parents gave me their old Espresso machine (kinda looks like this.) Not quite sure if I'm using it right, but damn what a kick! I had one latte this morning and haven't slowed down yet. I even did 30 min on the treadmill this morning! Woo hoo!
